Thanks, syko. You've solved a problem for me! In England, the "Promenade Concerts" are a series of classical music concerts which take place each summer at the Royal Albert Hall, London. Some of the world's greatest artists and orchestras take part in these concerts. Again - thanks!

"prom" is a school dance that occurs at the end of the school year for the graduating seniors (4th year high school students) and is a shortened version of the word "promenade" :)

btw, I LOVE this scene!!! always makes my eyes moist :)

Would some kind American please tell me what a "prom" is? It's an expression which I hear often in American films and programmes, including "The Big Bang Theory", but I've never understood it. In England, a "prom" is a summer concert at the Royal Albert Hall.
