"Now that's true DEI. Too often we're shut out of gay social / dating life by the unspoken rule "No Fats, Femmes or Minorities" (the latter is so egregious that it's just sad -- 2024, people!)  Everyone is sexy in their own unique way... you just need a little confidence :)"

Mmm nnnyah, maybe. It was thus in my heyday, but the current generation seems to have parked such biases at the door. Gen Z is more accepting of differences and seem to be (generally) less judgemental (excepting towards Boomers of course, the fount of all their complaints).

The 'tribes' of Gen X don't divide them, Gen Z's urgency of education is a curiosity to them, and location is not dictated by industry or its routines. But toward each other, love is love, no definitely means no, and sex is not necessary. Chastity is a valid option. So when it does come to sex, there won't necessarily be like-attracts-like dynamics, but more comfort sex, and definitely not the formulaic sex scenarios - seen (and rejected) - in porn.

"But toward each other, love is love, no definitely means no, and sex is not necessary."

As a late Millennial just shy of ~5 years from Gen Z, I've never felt more proud of my fellow younglings being described that way. We might be on our way towards Queer Utopia -- in terms of acceptance within our community, of course. I don't expect full acceptance from the outside anytime soon devil

Thanks for looking into it. Funny how the headers (aka blog title) are italicized for some posts and not for others silly

And just like that, someone with the power to remove comments did just that. He deleted his own (very thoughtful) comments along with my reply. Pity...

But I did save my reply! Here it is again grin

"Wow... honored to have Mr. [redacted] here!

I agree with your comment to an extent - that's a cisheteronormative patriachy in action.

As for gay male culture in particular, I find it ironically amusing when the male gaze turns on itself. As a result, you have gay (and bi/pan men) ruthlessly maintaining perfect beach bodies... because they themselves want that in their fellow men.

Maybe we should take a page out of the female gaze: seek people with personality and charm, who have a sense of humor about themselves, who show kindness to a fault, and are not afraid to be vulnerable. And guess what? None of these has anything to do with looks! grin"

comments are all nice, unsure what the issues are

Yes gay men care about physical appearance as you do as well

Been reading too much feminist propaganda IMO

Nice to read broadly (pun not intended lol) and widely. For too long, women have been marginalised in academia, if not shut out.

And to be frank, some of my thoughts about same-sex aesthetics and attraction could be derived from queer theory, which aren't just practiced by women but queer people of all persuasions (and straight allies perhaps).
