Recovery - Day 3
So I'm writing this at 10am. And it's been a busy morning. Whew!!Â
Occupational Theropy came in first and wanted go over everything about how I would do at home if I had the brace on. We talked about what happened when I was dischargeed on Dec 1 and was sent home with just a hinged knee brace. She gave me a couple of tools to help me get my shorts on over the foot that has the brace so I don't have to ask for help with that anymore. Overall, her visit went very well.
Next up was Physical Theropy who came in and wanted to test out my walking capability and to try going up stairs. I told him that Orthopedics said I was 100% weight bering on my right leg, but would be in the brace for no less than next Friday. So I'm stuck without being able to bend my knee for a while yet. Have you ever tried to go up a flight of 16 stairs without being able to bend your leg and using a crutch to get up? I'll tell you it's not easy. I told him this time that if I cant get up the stairs safely without the brace, I was going to fight discharge. We walked around the unit which I was able to do just fine with a two wheeled walker. I just felt the Orthostatic Hypotension kinda kick in a few times.
Lastly, had to fight AGAIN with the pharmacy about the medication drug scheduling. I've gone over my med list so many times during this stay it's crazy! Now they are saying that some of my med are to close together for dosing, and I told them they are out of their minds. I've never had an issue with it before. So, we will see what happens with that later on.
Overall, it's been a pretty good morning. It's 10:30am, so we will see what the rest of the day holds.
