I chanced upon a blog about underage and the discussion was heated. I would like to clarify my avatar. It is not the age of the boy that (I feel) the picture is about. I see a boy who is trying to decide who he really is, as he sets aside his well-worn baseball mitt to put on his ballet slippers. It is a delicate and vulnerable time and, only now is that stage, which we all go through, being openly recognized in our society. I firmly feel that intruding on this vulnerable time in a boy's life can cause severe and lasting damage to their emergence into a full person-hood, and I am strongly against it. Aside from the moral and legal aspects of it, it is totally impractical to seek a romantic response from someone so young that he/she is just learning to find and love him or herself. As a biologist, I know that in the first weeks of gestation, we are all female! Sexual differentiation takes place after that. I know that there are species that can change sex if their population is in danger of extinction. This process is deeply rooted in our natural world. And yes, there is undeniable evidence of homosexual relationships in nature, particularly in evolved species, like dolphins and primates. I know that many of us have been fucked over by churches and self-righteous moralists. I will certainly not take that stance. I will appeal to those who see a real beauty in boyhood as a miraculous transformation in human life. Please, don’t crush the chrysalis before the fully developed butterfly can emerge!
This blog shows up on my profile site, but not on the blog site; well, just the title is there. Am I doing something wrong with the posting process?
