Gifs on Wall and CPU usage

Does anyone know how much CPU is used by animated gifs when loaded?  I'm concerned that those posted on my Wall will slow down my computer when I'm trying to do other things.  So far though I haven't noticed any degradation.

I have heard that they don't use any more CPU than an actual still photo, so while they have motion within them the are not measured in length like a video (30 secs vs. 90 mins) but in size like a photo. So to me i is an issue of do I want to scroll down the same gifs every time I visit that page. What impresses me most is the loop they are on is so efficient that it takes less power to let it run forever than it does to shut down and restart, say once a week. I may be wrong but I heard it on the internet so it must be true. Cheers.
